Arawak’Opia is a traditional Puerto Rican Bomba group born at the Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center. Chicago’s only youth Bomba group has two solid years of performances at some of the most prestigious stages in Chicago and Puerto Rico, including Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián 2017 (San Juan, PR) Shakespeare in the Parks 2015 and 16 (Chicago), Victor Manuelle’s 2015 North America Tour (Chicago), Miguel Zenón’s 2016 Residency at the University of Chicago and SRBCC, The 2016 Chicago Latin Jazz Festival, the Opening Ceremony of The 606 (June 2015, Chicago), and the Colombian Fest (Chicago 2017).
