Groups such as\, Los Hermanos Cepeda\, Areyto\, Conjunto Tipikón\, Pleneros del Truco\, Truco y Zaperoko\, Los Majaderos de Cachete\, Yubá Iré\, Roberto Roena\, José Alberto “El Canario\,” and Tito Nieves. This group’s unwavering support of the community through consistent production of exceptional events that included fund raisers for children with HIV. \nThey produced the first all ages inclusive event for 15 years\, “Sizzling Mambo Sundays” at the Presidential Towers. Deeply committed to uniting cultures\, Cultural Expressions supports\, mentors\, and uplifts both emerging and established artists while celebrating the origins and history of Latin and Afro-Latin music and dance through the salsa congress concept. \nIn 2002 they produced the first Chicago International Salsa Congress (CISC) now in its 22nd year. The CISC fosters personal awareness\, develops leadership\, creativity and inspires highest performance by providing emerging artists an opportunity to learn from and perform with professional artists in the congress showcase. CISC artistic director\, Saladeen Alamin was awarded the Andy Vasquez Award for contributions to Latin dance at the World Salsa Congress\, San Juan\, PR\, July\, 2003. The executive producers\, Rosita and Saladeen\, have received awards for their vision and contributions to Latin music\, culture and dance by the World Salsa Congress in San Juan\, PR (July\, 2003 and 2005)\, Philadelphia Salsa Congress in 2008 and the LA Salsa Congress in California (May\, 2005).

As a rapper\, Telmary uses her distinctive voice\, at times deep and soulful\, at times fast and aggressive\, to proclaim a positive\, empowering message that contrasts with the genre’s commercial norm. After working with Free Hole Negro in 1999 and Interactivo in 2002\, she launched her solo career with A Diario\, produced by acclaimed Cuban pianist and Interactivo leader Roberto Carcasses and winner of the Cubadisco award for Best Hip Hop Album in 2007. After seven years in Toronto\, Canada\, she returned to Havana where she formed her band Habana Sana. Her CD Libre was awarded the 2014 Cubadisco Prize for best Hip Hop recording. While performing with HabanaSana in Havana\, Telmary continues to collaborate with a flurry of Cuban and international artists including Interactivo with whom she toured the U.S. in 2016\, Pedrito Martinez and Doctor John. \nFlaco Navaja \nFlaco Navaja is a singer\, poet\, actor\, who is born and raised in the Bronx. He sings in both Spanish and English and has toured with various groups across the globe. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by SRBCC’s La Cantera\, this Master Class & Jam Session with recent Grammy Winners Miguel Zenón and Luis Perdomo is another in a series of SRBCC-produced opportunities for emerging and established Chicago-based artists to learn and exchange ideas with world-class musicians. \nGrammy Winner and Guggenheim and MacArthur Fellow Miguel Zenón represents a select group of musicians who have masterfully balanced and blended the often contradictory poles of innovation and tradition. Widely considered as one of the most groundbreaking and influential saxophonists and composers of his generation\, he has also developed a unique voice as a conceptualist\, concentrating his efforts on perfecting a fine mix between Jazz and his many musical influences. \nBorn and raised in San Juan\, Puerto Rico\, Zenón has built a distinguished career as a leader\, releasing fifteen albums under his own name. In addition\, he has honed his artistic identity by collaborating with both established jazz masters and the music’s younger innovators\, irrespective of style and genre. Zenón has toured and/or recorded with artists including The SFJAZZ Collective\, Charlie Haden\, Fred Hersch\, Kenny Werner\, David Sánchez\, Danilo Perez\, The Village Vanguard Orchestra\, Kurt Elling\, Guillermo Klein & Los Guachos\, The Jeff Ballard Trio\, Antonio Sanchez\, Brian Lynch\, Joey Calderazzo\, Steve Coleman\, Ray Barreto\, Andy Montañez\, Jerry Gonzalez & The Fort Apache Band\, The Mingus Big Band and Bobby Hutcherson. \nEl Arte Del Bolero Vol. 2 – with Luis Perdomo (Miel Music 2023) – The follow up to their Grammy Nominated 2021 release\, this album further explores the Latin American Songbook in a Duo format\, featuring music written by composers hailing from Puerto Rico\, Venezuela\, Panama and México. El Arte Del Bolero Vol. 2 won a 2024 Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album. \nReserve
