SUMMARY:La Cantera & Friends Residency at The California Clipper
DESCRIPTION:Since 2023\, SRBCC and The California Clipper Lounge\, two long-standing Chicago-based hubs for artists\, have been working together to create a supportive and creative space for young Latin Jazz musicians. Through this unique collaboration\, members of La Cantera (SRBCC’s Afro-Caribbean Jazz internship for ages 19-24) have the opportunity to collaborate\, experiment\, and learn from award-winning touring and local professional artists. Our residency program occurs every third Friday of the month from 6 pm to 9 pm at The California Clipper\, located in the heart of Humboldt Park at 1002 N. California Ave.\, Chicago IL. By attending these events\, our audience is supporting a platform for emerging musicians to showcase their skills and connect with the vibrant jazz community in Chicago. \nLa Cantera incorporates young veterans of Ruiz Belvis’ Afro-Caribbean Jazz and Afro-Latin Percussion apprenticeships. NO COVER BEFORE 7:00 PM. $5 AFTER. Every third Friday of the month.
