Special masterclass for aspiring young musicians with Chicago-based saxophonist Chris Madsen. Participating performing ensembles include College of DuPage Jazz Combo led by Matt Shevitz and SRBCC’s La Cantera.
Raíces was modeled on the famous Cal Tjader Quintet of the 1950’s & 60’s by the late Chicago percussionist Rubén Alvarez and is now led by vibraphonist Joe Sonnefeldt. Since their post-pandemic return, the group has thrilled audiences at area music festivals and Chicago performance venues. Raíces includes Stuart Seale on piano, Eric Ferrer on bassist , Bobby Delgado on timbales, and Jorge Leal on congas.
