Organized and produced by the International Latino Cultural Center, the Chicago Latino Dance Festival is back for a second year! Come join us for three days of dance performances from some of Chicago’s best performing dancers. Dancers from Spain, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Panamá, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil will take the stage in this one of a kind dance event.
About Barrio Bugalú
Almost two decades ago some of the most serious Latin record collectors in Chicago joined forces to play for a packed dance floor at Sonotheque as part of the Chicago World Music Festival (2007). The monthly all-vinyl Barrio Bugalú was born at one of Chicago’s top audiophile destinations. SRBCC relives Barrio Bugalú with appearances by the original host DJs (Super Barrio Brothers and Agúzate DJ Crew), as well as special sets by some of Chicago’s most avid vinyl selectors.
Held every last Friday of the month, Barrio Bugalú is not just a dance party; it’s a celebration of history, a tribute to the pioneers of Latin music, and a testament to the timeless power of Afro-Caribbean rhythms to bring people together.

Founded in 1992 by Guilibardo Gil Criollo, Martha Jiménez and Gabriel Rodríguez and under the artistic direction of Edgar Serna, the Tierra Colombian Dance Ensemble celebrates Colombia’s diverse cultures through traditional dances, music and cultural events.
Dance group Tierra Colombiana accompanied by musical group Arpa Café perform the music and dance of the plains region of Colombia and Venezuela. This shared cultural tradition features a musical style that has the harp and the cuatro as its core musical instruments and is danced with fast-paced footwork in groups or with couples.
Born at Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center (SRBCC), Los Pleneros de Don Segundo have been playing original plena in Chicago since 2016. Los Pleneros have evolved to be one of Chicago’s most sought-after Afro-Puerto Rican folkloric groups due its unwavering commitment to the advancement of the genre with original compositions and arrangements. After incorporating Bomba into their repertoire in the last two years, the group can adapt to a wide variety of formats, from a basic 4-member ensemble to a full Puerto Rican carnival experience with horns, vejigantes, cabezudos and stilt wa
Founded by Damares Santos and Elaine Norwood in late 2019, both from Río de Janeiro, Sambrazilian’s goal is to deliver the authentic experience of Carnival all over Illinois. Choreographer Elaine Norwood attended samba school since she was a child and has performed at carnival parades for years. The group’s main dance style is samba, but they also perform other Latin dance styles.
Founded in July 1996 by Migdalia Barton, the Grupo Folclórico Viva Panamá performs a wide variety of Panamanian folkloric dances that are the product of the fusion of Spanish (particularly Andalusian), indigenous and West African cultures. The group’s mission is to promote the rich culture of Panama through dance and is known for its colorful traditional costumes, such as the Panamanian pollera, and by its interpretation of such popular dances such as the tamborito and cumbia, which are fundamental parts to Panamanian folklore.
The Chicago International Salsa Congress (CISC) is the longest, continuously running salsa congress in the Americas. Open to the general public, beloved by loyal Latin music and dance aficionados internationally, this spectacular showcase of Latin and Afro-Caribbean dance, music and culture is unsurpassed among Chicago’s annual Latin events. The CISC is produced by Cultural Expressions Productions, which was founded by Rosita and Saladeen Alamin over 34 years ago:
Crescente
Crescente is an all ladies bachata team which was founded in 2020 by Marcos Raygoza and rebranded later in 2023 adding alongside a co-director, Marko Hernandez. Their mission is to help young dancers grow/evolve into their best self, with the art of dance, as well as create a safe empowering environment for a healthy and fun dance sisterhood.
Marcos & Marko: This Latin queer couple, have both been dancing professionally in the Latin dance scene for close to six years. They competed at the Latin Dance Crown this past summer and placed 1st in the Queer Bachata Couple Category.
OLAS: OLAS is the Organization of Latin American Students at Lane Tech and represents the Dominican Republic.
Continente Azul: From Lane Tech High school, this salsa group brings energy and rhythm to the stage. Led by choreographers Jonathan Barrera and Lupita Manriquez, they embody the spirit of Latin dance through every performance.
Mayambo: Chicago’s premier Salsa On2 studio, located in the heart of Humboldt Park, Mayambo takes pride in teaching Chicago’s diverse community, and sharing the beauty and rhythm of Salsa. As a dance company, Mayambo proudly represents Chicago on stages across the U.S., showcasing performances and offering expert instruction.
