Since 2023, SRBCC and The California Clipper Lounge, two long-standing Chicago-based hubs for artists, have been working together to create a supportive and creative space for young Latin Jazz musicians. Through this unique collaboration, members of La Cantera (SRBCC’s Afro-Caribbean Jazz internship for ages 19-24) have the opportunity to collaborate, experiment, and learn from award-winning touring and local professional artists. Our residency program occurs every third Friday of the month from 6 pm to 9 pm at The California Clipper, located in the heart of Humboldt Park at 1002 N. California Ave., Chicago IL. By attending these events, our audience is supporting a platform for emerging musicians to showcase their skills and connect with the vibrant jazz community in Chicago.

La Cantera incorporates young veterans of Ruiz Belvis’ Afro-Caribbean Jazz and Afro-Latin Percussion apprenticeships. NO COVER BEFORE 7:00 PM. $5 AFTER. Every third Friday of the month.
