Welcome to the Urban Garden at Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center
Nestled in the heart of Hermosa, Chicago, our urban garden is a youth-led initiative that brings together community spirit, creativity, and sustainability. Designed and cultivated by our dedicated volunteers and paid apprentices between the ages of 19 and 24, this garden serves as both a green oasis and a dynamic learning space, where the importance of nature and healthy living come to life.
Our garden features a diverse array of ornamental plants that beautify the area while we are committed to expanding our selection of edible plants. With the support of Prevention First, we are continually enhancing our garden’s productivity, aiming to provide fresh, nutritious produce to our community.
We are proud to have partnered with Human Scale, whose expertise helped our youth turn their vision into reality. Together, we have created a thriving environment that not only showcases the beauty of nature but also fosters education and growth among our young leaders.
The garden is more than just a collection of plants; it’s a place for community engagement, creativity, and connection. We welcome donations and volunteers to join us in our mission to cultivate both plants and minds. Your support helps us maintain and expand this beautiful space for all to enjoy.
Join us in our journey to create a greener, more sustainable future!
