    Nuestra Lírica: Hip hop de Pe-erre & The Chi brings together artists whose work reminds us that lyrics are more than entertainment—they are memory, testimony, resistance, healing, and imagination. This Independence Day weekend, as Chicago's Puerto Rican community gathers in Humboldt Park for the historic Jolgorio Boricua: No Kings, No Colonies celebration—a call for self-determination, cultural affirmation, and solidarity—Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center welcomes two influential voices from Puerto Rico, rapper Siete Nueve and producer, DJ, finger drummer, and MC El S, for a special residency at La Resi and an unforgettable evening dedicated to the power of words.

    Presented during Peña’s stay at La Resi, SRBCC’s artist residency, this special album presentation brings together the rhythmic heartbeat of Puerto Rico’s Afro-Caribbean traditions with the harmonic richness, improvisational depth, and energy of modern jazz. Rooted in rhythms such as bomba, plena, guaracha, and son, Equilibrio reflects Peña’s search for balance between tradition and innovation, with a trio sound shaped through constant musical conversation.

This group has curated a powerful event featuring cultural voices from across the community. All proceeds will support the local rescue and redevelopment efforts in Caracas-La Guaira resulting from this month's devastating double Earthquakes.
